No, there is no full time AF during video, that's really not what a DSLR video camera is about. If you need full time AF, buy a video camera.
With all Canon's video capable DSLR's you can pre-focus either manually, or via Live View (Live or Quick).

Re: 60D - AF when shooting video?
I have found in certain situations when my aging eyes failed to find focus I resorted to AF, while shooting, to get an accurate read. This took several seconds sometimes.
The resultant change of exposure, while distracting, was limited and I did a workaround while editing, using a variety of transitions to link the unaffected sections of the clip.
The sound and voices usually are not affected.
There is always dead time when you are shooting so you can adjust focus.
BUT Manual is best, for bokeh and the smoothness of focusing. My favorite is the Nikon Ais 28.2.8 when you go from pure bokeh and let the subject emerge out of that field.

"that's really not what a DSLR video camera is about" ? Why ?
My Samsung NX10 has continuous AF when shooting video ?
I can't think of one reason why it can't or shouldn't have it. Unless there's something in the EF specifications that prevents this feature from being implemented ?

There are valid reasons why one would want a DSLR with AF during video shooting. For DOF, for low-light, for all-in-one-factor...
Even harder to understand is that my 7D refuse me to zoom while shooting video. Just like they are trying to make the video feature crippled.

I am sure that the next generation of Canon DSLRs will have the Auto focus while on video.

How could it refuse to zoom, the zoom action is a manual function of the lens and is not electrically connected to the camera.

With my T3i, you have to use the 1080p or 1080i mode to use the zoom. It doesn't work in any other mode like 720p.

I am not talking about manually zooming a lense (of course this works).
I am not talking about the 3x digital cropping zoom that the 600D does to file.
I am talking about zooming only for the integrated LCD (not to file). With my 7D if I do previewing in 5x/10X enlargement (to check focus), the minute I press "record" the LCD instantly jumps back to overview. That bugs me a lot.

A DSLR for video is well into semi-pro video territory and even used by professional production companies. I am sure we have all heard about the House episode that was shot entirely on a 7D with no Autofocus.
Now, at the end of every movie, take a look at the credits - look for the "Focus Puller". He is the highly experienced guy that focuses each shot manually. That's what pro movie making is all about, full manual control over every facet of the production.
If you want an AF camera for shooting video then buy one - oh, you already have.
Sure, it would be a nice bonus if Canon's DSLRs had autofocus but they haven't so I just wish people would stop griping about it. We can all read the specs and reviews before we buy.

You sound like a pro in the know yourself !?
The difference with shooting a set and shooting something live, is that on a set, there's a script that says who moves where and when, 'easier' for the pro than for the person trying to shoot their kids doing sports and suddenly the play change direction.
Again, I see no reason why AF is not available for video on DSLR.

No, nothing like a pro here, I just dabble.
I use a DSLR mainly to shoot my company's products (industrial machinery) where manual focus is the only way to shoot effectively and the control of DOF that a DSLR gives really helps pick out the action I need to show.
Personally I don't care what the reason is. I prefer to use the right tool for the job. At home I have a couple of video cameras, a couple of P&S, a bridge camera and a DSLR. They all have their strengths and their weaknesses. If I want to video kids playing I will use one of the video cameras which is a) more suited to the job, and b) much cheaper in case it gets knocked flying.
Besides which, with the right lighting and choice of aperture, the need to autofocus can be minimized.
Personally I LIKE the fact that video on a DSLR requires me to work harder - my technique has improved enormously since I started using one.
